Digital Print Artwork Requirements
Print Ready Artwork Specifications
We considers artwork to be print-ready if it meets the following requirements, and no further adjustments are required in-house. To avoid additional costs to your printing (incurred when our designers are required to make final amendments before printing), please ensure that if you are providing us with print-ready artwork, you have checked through the requirements below and your material is, in fact, ready for print. If you’re unsure about whether or not your artwork is print-ready, or you require a further explanation, please call us.
File Requirements
We require PDF files created to print ready specifications. Colour images should be down-sampled to 300DPI. The PDF colour space should be four-colour CMYK. Bleed and trim marks should be included. Files provided in any other format will require our designers to make changes and will incur a fee.
Fonts
Please ensure that all fonts are embedded in the PDF document or make sure you convert fonts to outlines to prevent any issues with fonts.
Images
If there are any images within in the document, they must be saved as CMYK and no less than 300dpi, preferably in Vector, AI or EPS to ensure quality. Bleed and Cut Lines Your images require a 5mm bleed. Cut Lines (use solid lines) are to be included so the image can be trimmed to the desired size.
CA Design and Print offers completely customizable substrates for you or your company.

About Embroidery
Embroidery as a branding process is suitable for clothing, caps, towels and selected bags, and many other products offers a permanent and branding solution.
Embroidery is the art of decorating fabric or other materials with designs stitched in strands of thread. Embroidery machines are driven by computers which read digitised embroidery files (electronic stitch patterns) created by specialised software.
Our embroidery machine allows for up to 15 colours to be embroidered simultaneously.
Pantone colours are used as a reference to match to thread colours. However, the range of thread colours is limited when compared to pantones and the closest (not always exact) match is used. We use Sylko, but we are not restricted, we can access Hemmingworth and Marithon.
Very fine detail and text smaller than 3mm high should be avoided as it is difficult to achieve this in stitches.
Embroidery Artwork Requirements
What files do we require for Embroidery?
Our embroidery machines use a file format call a DST file. This is a special file format that only embroidery machines can read. If you do not have a DST file of your logo then you will need to pay a fee to have this digitised.
What is Digitising?
Embroidery digitizing is the process of converting existing artwork like a company logo or team emblem into a stitch file that an embroidery machine can sew on a garment. Before any design can be embroidered, it must be digitized. Digitizing is a complex process that is both art and science.
What we need to digitise your logo?
To digitise your logo, we need a computerised file of your logo. We can read all of the following formats: jpeg, tif, gif, jpg, cdr, ai, eps, pdf, bmp. These are the most common formats, but if you have a format not listed here send it anyway, we are pretty good at this. Our favourite is the jpg format. It is generic and can be saved / exported by just about every piece of software available. If you can't send a jpg file and are sending a graphic with the font active, please change the text to curves. Otherwise, if our system does not have the font (we don't own every one of them out there) it will substitute a closest match (which may not be what you want). We can fix this, but it is much easier with the text as curves.
